help you in understanding Colombia we provide a set of articles on
the diverse facets of this country rich in contradictions and so easy
to caricature
We
shall begin with the history, because without historic references it
is impossible to whoever it is to understand the current situation.
Instead of a conventional approach, we selected some major
constituent events whose influence are still very living.
Then
we consider the main components of the contemporary Colombian
population, characterized by a particularly complex interbreeding.
We shall grant a particular importance for the native and
afrocolombian communities
Owing the current situation, we
shall approach the political question with great care, As an introduction we shall consider the subject of
coca, a sensitive subject from which we can go towards all others
In
the category Arts and Culture we shall try to give you an idea of
the dynamism and the creativity of the Colombian society. We want to
show you that the cultural life is just like the society,
unpredictable, enthusiastic and unpredictable, that the world of the
artists does not amount to a few famous names as Garcia Marquez or
Botero.
Quite
as the history, the geography provides essential data to understand
Colombia, not only to understand why it is one of the highest places
of the world biodiversity but also to understand its history,
including the precolombian one, as well as many aspects of the
current society.
The
Nature is a subject we pay a particular attention, as well as to the
rapidly expanding ecotourism.
Finally,
to finish convincing you to visit this so different country we shall
end by the tourism, whether it is for cultural or natural purposes.
The
information presented here results for the main part of Colombian
sources which we sought: journalists, historians, jurists, scientists
of diverse horizons, artists, diverse NGO, numerous internet sites
sometimes of English language, rarely in French. Most of all we
wanted to give the word in priority to Colombians living in Colombia.
This
site is and will be always under construction. First of all it is a long term project, likely to evolve with time and your participation The current contents
are still very far from our objectives and most of the information
categories are still limited to simple introductions. Nevertheless,
numerous links (active or not according to the good will of the
concerned sites) are proposed to you and should be sufficient to keep
you busy a few evenings. Certain sites propose an English version
besides the basic version in Spanish. Our newsletter and our page "What's new?" will keep you informed about coming or recent subjects or products.
